Beber’s Special Sauce

One thing that makes Beber Camp distinct is the customized hobby program. What’s a hobby? A hobby is an activity that a camper chooses. The goal of the hobby program is to provide campers with opportunities to experience different activities, develop new skills, build upon what they already know, and of course, have fun!

8 Activity Areas

At any given time, there may be over 50 activities in our eight supervised programmatic areas.

  • Aquatics
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Athletics
  • Challenge Course
  • Fine Arts
  • Music
  • Outdoor Adventure/Farm
  • Waterfront

A Selection Process that Works

Beber campers customize their day by selecting three hobbies that interest them for the upcoming hobby rotation. Each week, campers select a new set of three hobbies.

Within each activity area, there are many different hobby choices. Each year, we develop new hobbies based on the skills and interests of our campers and staff. Hobbies last for 75 minutes which allows campers to dive deep into the activity. Moreover, they build strong relationships with staff and campers, reach new goals, and enjoy their time by doing what they want to do.

This individualized “choose your own adventure” format combined with a developmentally appropriate diversity of programmatic offerings is what makes Beber different from many other overnight camps.

Programmatic Supervision

Area Directors supervise the programmatic areas and are hired for their leadership skills, energy, and talent. They meet with their staff daily and ensure that their hobbies are running smoothly and safely.

We would love to hear from our campers to learn more about their favorite hobbies and what they might like to see in the future. Parents, please share this link with your campers so they can participate in our hobby survey. We would greatly appreciate their feedback. For any hobby programming questions, please contact Stacy.
