Sittin’ On the Dock of the Bay
Sittin' in the morning sun
I'll be sittin' when the evening comes
Watching the ships roll in
Then I watch them roll away again, yeah
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
Watchin' the tide roll away, ooh
I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay
Wastin' time
Today was an awesome day for our Makor, Kesher, and Ramot campers as we ventured back to the Wisconsin Dells for our annual Waterpark Day. The ideal weather amplified the campers' enthusiasm and set the stage for an unforgettable experience.
Our campers had so much fun in age-appropriate waterparks designed to offer maximum enjoyment and adventure.
- Makor to Mt. Olympus, which features a mix of water rides and dry rides perfectly suited for their age group. They enjoyed treats like Dippin' Dots and fruit pops, concluding the day with a pizza dinner.
- Kesher to Noah’s Ark, celebrated for its spectacular attractions that cater to both thrill seekers and those preferring gentler rides.
- Ramot to Mt. Olympus as well, where they immersed themselves in both water attractions and amusement park rides, including some thrilling roller coasters.
- CITs Traveled in groups with campers supporting the counselors in the groups, getting a feel for how supervision works on out of camp trips.
Each cabin was split into smaller groups with friends, each supervised by a counselor. Leadership team members rotated through check-in points to address any camper needs, with a nurse accompanying each waterpark to handle any medical issues. Our photographers captured the day's magic, ensuring everyone has lasting memories.
Campers received a bagged lunch upon arrival and, after a day full of fun and adventure, enjoyed a pizza dinner before heading back to camp. They returned bursting with excitement and tales of the rides they conquered. Jolie and Sophie, our Makor division leaders, shared that several initially hesitant campers were thrilled to share their newfound bravery and the numerous rides they enjoyed.
The Wisconsin Dells, known as the "Waterpark Capital of the World," provides a perfect backdrop for such an adventure. Its unique blend of thrilling water attractions, amusement park rides, and incredible landscapes makes it an ideal spot for our campers to create unforgettable memories.
Campers arrived back at camp around 8:30 pm, ready for a shower and an early night. To ensure they are well-rested for the exciting activities ahead, they will have a late wake-up tomorrow. We also have a "recharge" night for our staff, allowing everyone, including myself, to enjoy an early night. We all have a big weekend and week coming up so having this early night will help rejuvenate everyone.
Waterpark Day is more than just a fun outing; it's an opportunity for campers to bond, overcome fears, and create lifelong memories in a world-class setting. We’re elated to continue this cherished tradition and look forward to many more adventures in the Wisconsin Dells.
The PIOs returned from their Iowa trip (fondly nicknamed the PIOWA trip). They had so many fun experiences to share and were extremely efficient at packing in their trip. I was so impressed with how they worked together to get their tents set up to dry after a little rainstorm in the early hours of the morning, unload their coolers and wash, dry and put away all of their equipment. It was accomplished in record time. We treated them to a catered nice dinner on the island where they could relax and enjoy being back in camp after a nice shower. I really enjoyed spending this relaxing time catching up with them and hearing about their exciting travels.
