I Can See Clearly
“I can see clearly now, the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-shiny day…”
Today brought a little rain, but not a single cloud on the camp spirit. At Beber, we’re built for days like this. Every program area has a rain plan, and our team knows how to pivot without losing momentum. Activities went on as scheduled, energy stayed high, and the smiles never left.
We’re now well into our Hobby Week 1, and it’s amazing to see how much campers have already learned in just a few days. Whether it’s sports, arts, aquatics, or outdoor adventure, each hobby is built around three core goals: camper choice, skill development, and fun. Our hobby team has created thoughtful plans that blend structure with creativity, and it shows. Curious what a camper’s hobby sign up sheet looks like? You can check out a sample here.
During the session, each camper will take part in nine unique hobbies. Some are learning to waterski for the first time. Others are diving into ceramics, painting murals, filming original movies, or belting out show tunes. For those who like to branch out, our program offers range. For those with a passion, there’s room to deepen skills and gain confidence.

Our cabin activities also shined today. A few highlights:
- Giant Paddleboard Adventure – One cabin hit the lake together on our oversized paddleboard, navigating as a team and laughing through every splash and wobble.
- Trip to the Elegant Farmer – A few lucky cabins took a short off-site trip for treats and apple pie (yes, that apple pie), bringing a sweet twist to the day.
- Bunk Song Recording Session – One cabin stepped into our recording studio to write and perform their very own bunk anthem. The results? Catchy, creative, and very campy in the best way.
These moments are more than just fun, they’re intentionally designed to strengthen friendships, promote collaboration, and give each cabin its own unique identity.
Our Pios spent the day off-site in Wisconsin, enjoying meaningful group time in a beautiful setting. Even though they’ve known each other for years, today’s game, Connection Detection, encouraged them to uncover new shared experiences and surprising facts. The rain mostly held off, and the group ended their evening with bowling and a classic camper stew dinner cooked together at the campsite.
Meanwhile, our CITs spent the day interning across camp, shadowing hobby leaders and supporting younger campers. These early experiences offer hands-on leadership growth and help them begin the transition from camper to counselor. Tonight’s program focused on team-building and communication as their leadership journey continues to unfold.
Today’s Menu Highlights:
- Breakfast: Chocolate chip pancakes and fruit
- Lunch: Mac and cheese with classic sides
- Dinner: Pasta Festival with multiple sauces—and a delicious salmon option
During lunch, we also held our first staff meeting of the session, a time to align, share wins, and prepare for the days ahead. While that happened, campers played Heads or Tails, a fast-paced group game where each camper guesses the outcome of a coin flip with a hand on their head or hips. The excitement builds quickly until only one camper is left standing, and celebrating.
At dinner, we paused to honor our first Staff of the Week, outstanding role models who have gone above and beyond in these opening days:
- Makor: Lily Weinstein, Jaydn Nyder, and Dario Abril de Cos
- Kesher: Abby Berger and Colin Marshall
- Ramot: Hailey Williamson, Alon Ben Joseph, and Danny Hollingsworth
If you’d like to see the full list of this year’s incredible staff, you can revisit it here.

Tonight’s evening programs kept the momentum going:
- Makor hosted a lively Trivia Night, featuring rounds like Makor World Tour (a music-based name-that-tune challenge), All Things Beber, and a special Staff Trivia game where campers guessed facts about their counselors.
- Kesher played Pass It Up, a high-energy relay game full of teamwork, laughter, and just the right amount of chaos.
- Ramot brought down the house with a Lip Sync Contest. Cabins performed many hits including Kung Fu Fighting, 24K Magic, Beauty and Beast and more.
- This evening CITs took part in their talent show where they showed their courage and performed in front of their friends!
