I thought love was only true in fairy tales
Meant for someone else but not for me
Love was out to get me
That's the way it seemed
Disappointment haunted all my dreams
And then I saw her face
Now I'm a believer
And not a trace
Of doubt in my mind
I'm in love, I'm a believer
I couldn't leave her if I tried
There is something magical about evenings at camp.
As the sun begins to set over Lake Beulah, camp takes on a different feeling. The pace slows just enough for friends to walk together a little longer, counselors to have meaningful conversations with campers, and the entire community to gather for whatever the evening has in store.
Some nights are filled with campfires, night games, or special programs. Tonight, it was our musical.
One of the most anticipated evening programs of the session so far took place tonight: Shrek the Musical! The musical tells the story of Shrek, an ogre who enjoys living alone in his swamp until a group of fairy tale creatures are forced to move there. To get his home back, Shrek goes on a journey to rescue Princess Fiona for Lord Farquaad. Along the way, Shrek and Fiona become friends, discover they have more in common than they expected, and learn that true beauty comes from being yourself. The musical celebrates friendship, acceptance, and finding love in unexpected places.

Our campers went above and beyond in their commitment, passion, and performance in tonight's musical. The friendship, acceptance, and love at the heart of Shrek's story weren't confined to the stage—they were evident among our campers throughout the entire performance. Watching our campers encourage one another, celebrate each other's unique strengths, and perform with such confidence and heart made tonight truly unforgettable. I couldn't be prouder of all they accomplished, both on stage and off. An absolutely massive shoutout goes to everyone who helped with this year’s musical: our Musical Director Pat, Fine Arts Director Belle, Music Director Victoria, and every other staff member who gave their all in directing singing, acting, and giving support to our young actors.
It is hard to believe that tomorrow will be the last Hobby Day of First Session 2026. Throughout this session, our campers have embraced every opportunity to learn, create, explore, and challenge themselves. Whether they were discovering a new passion, building a new skill, or simply enjoying time with friends, each hobby has been a chance to grow in confidence and make lasting memories. This session, our campers have gotten up on waterskis for the first time, branched out and made new friends with similar interests in hobbies, and laughed more times than they could count. Some have even been brave enough to sleep away from home for the first time. I can't wait to see our campers enjoy one final hobby day doing what they love and celebrating all they've accomplished this session.
In recent days, I have touched on the incredible impact made by our CITs and Pios in not only the Beber community, but the wider Mukwonago area and Jewish communities. Click here to read more about our Teen Leadership Program and the impact our oldest campers have made this session, both on their communities and on their own developing skills.
As Camp Director, I try to walk around camp every evening. There isn't one place I need to be, which gives me the chance to experience a little bit of everything. Those walks remind me that camp isn't built only during hobbies or big events. It's built in the conversations after dinner, the laughter walking back to cabins, the applause after a performance, and the friendships that grow just a little stronger before the day comes to an end.
When parents ask what makes camp so special, it's hard to point to just one activity. The magic isn't found in a single program. It's found in evenings like tonight, when an entire camp comes together to celebrate one another, creating memories that will last long after the final curtain falls.
As we prepare for the end of the session, I can't help but feel sentimental and incredibly proud as I look back on all of the unforgettable moments we've shared. May our last day of hobbies tomorrow bring joy, laughter, and fulfillment to every camper. I feel confident it will.
Peace, Love, 3BC,
Michael
