Meet The Staff: Hannah Spevak - Ramot Division Leader
Hello Beber Camp!
My name is Hannah Spevak and I am so excited to return to camp for my 11th summer as the Ramot Division Leader. I am from Highland Park, Illinois and am a junior at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign where I am majoring in Social Work and minoring in Spanish. I am currently studying abroad in Bilbao, Spain and as fun as it is to travel around Europe, I am eagerly counting the days till the first day of camp! Being somewhere so far and different from home has taught me the importance of being able to return to camp, a community that is always supportive and familiar, as well as challenging in the best way possible. In my past two summers on staff, I have been a general Ramot counselor and CIT leader and I cannot wait to take on the role of division leader.
When I think back to my summers as a camper, some of my best and most memorable moments are from the Ramot years, and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to give this summer’s campers the same. Not only does being in Ramot come with obvious privileges such as late wake-up but it also means the reward of being the role models for the rest of camp. In Ramot, campers are given the opportunity to understand what it means to have others look up to you and model their behavior after yours, something that is unique to camp. When Ramot campers drive down the hill on the first day of camp they get to put their technology away and focus on forming friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.
I am beyond excited to see you all this summer and hope the rest of your year is filled with love, health and happiness!
