One of the great things about camp is what many people call the "Beber Bubble." It's that unique environment where the outside world fades into the background, phones disappear, schedules simplify, and campers become fully present with one another. Without the constant pull of notifications, social media, and everyday distractions, something special happens. Conversations last longer. Friendships deepen more quickly. Campers notice each other in ways they often don't have the opportunity to during the rest of the year.

The Beber Bubble isn't about escaping reality, it's about rediscovering what matters most. Whether campers are staying up talking with cabinmates after lights out or trying something new alongside a friend, they're building relationships rooted in shared experiences rather than shared screens. Those connections become the foundation for the confidence, resilience, and sense of belonging that make camp such a powerful place.

Today was a perfect example of that magic. The day began early for our Taste of Beber (TOB) campers with an 8am degel followed by a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, hash browns, and bagels. It was great to see so many campers trying new foods from our breakfast bar, including cottage cheese, fresh fruit, and yogurt.

Throughout today, our TOB campers rotated through a massive variety of our hobbies: Arts & Crafts, Basketball, Challenge Course, Gaga/9 Square, Farm, Recording Studio, Soccer, Fishing, Outdoor Cooking, Tennis, Volleyball, and Gymnastics! They also enjoyed Aqua Park as a divisional program in the morning, and a pool party in the afternoon!

Meanwhile, Makor Mania was in full swing today for our O and K cabins! Our O cabins enjoyed the same breakfast as TOB (but at 9am!). Our K cabins woke up this morning at their campout on upper camp after a fun and exciting night of camping in tents (a first-time experience for many of our campers!). They enjoyed breakfast at the campsite and then packed up and made their way back down to their cabins on lower camp.

After everyone finished eating and cleaned their cabins, Makor gathered in Crown Hall for an exciting lip sync battle! Each cabin had spent time preparing their performance, and they certainly put on a show. The stage was filled with energy as campers lip synced to classic hits, modern favorites, and everything in between. One of my favorite performances was O5's rendition of "It's a Hard Knock Life" from the musical Annie, a fun throwback that had everyone smiling and cheering.

Following Makor’s lip sync battle and TOB’s Aqua Park experience, all of camp gathered in the dining hall for a creamy mac ‘n’ cheese lunch, followed by a peaceful rest hour in their cabins.

To kick off the afternoon of Makor Mania activities, Makor campers took part in a 3-Day Trip Experience! Campers rotated between canoeing on the lake and playing sports on Hobby Wheel Field, giving them a taste of some of the activities they may choose during a future 3-day trip in one, two, three, or even four years. This experience is always a camper favorite because it builds excitement for the adventures that lie ahead while encouraging independence, confidence, and a deeper love for camp.

Meanwhile, our 3-Day Trip campers are still dotted across Wisconsin, making the most of their adventures! Over the past two days, I’ve heard countless funny stories and heartwarming anecdotes, and it sounds like they have another fantastic day ahead. Read on to learn more about the remaining trips that I didn’t get to highlight yesterday:

Fine Arts: Our Fine Arts campers are off on an unforgettable adventure, spending a few days camping in a beautiful Wisconsin state park surrounded by nature. Their trip has been filled with creativity, including talent shows, arts and crafts, and plenty of music activities that let everyone share their unique talents. Today, they enjoyed exploring the one-of-a-kind House on the Rock museum and stepping back in time with a visit to the historic Circus World. The Fine Arts trip is the perfect blend of outdoor adventure, artistic expression, and unforgettable experiences.

Fishing: Our campers have had an unforgettable fishing adventure on Lake Michigan over the past couple of days! They kicked off the trip by relaxing on the beach, swimming in the lake, and exploring the scenic trails of a nearby state park. Today was packed with excitement as they set out on Lake Michigan for an incredible day of salmon and trout fishing. Aboard the charter boats with Reel Action Charters, campers enjoyed the thrill of reeling in impressive catches while taking in the beauty of the open water. To top off an amazing day, they gathered for a delicious meal featuring the (41!!) fresh fish they caught themselves for a perfect ending to an unforgettable outdoor adventure.

Outdoor Sports Adventure: Our Outdoor Sports Adventure campers have been enjoying an action-packed trip filled with friendly competition, teamwork, and outdoor fun. Throughout their adventure, they've taken part in a variety of sporting events, team challenges, and recreational activities that have kept everyone active and engaged. After full days of excitement, campers set up their tents tonight and relaxed on the beach. To top it all off, they headed out to cheer on the home team at a minor league baseball game tonight (and got some signed hats in the process!), making this trip a home run of unforgettable memories!

Back at camp, after completing their 3-Day Trip Experience and enjoying more afternoon games and activities, our Makor campers got ready for an evening full of memorable Makor Mania traditions. Our K cabins kicked off the night with GA before gathering for a delicious barbecue dinner, while our O cabins rolled up their sleeping bags and made their way to upper camp for their iconic Makor Mania campout.

Just like the K cabins did last night, the O cabins enjoyed campers’ stew and roasted s’mores around the campfire before settling into their tents for a cozy night under the stars. Meanwhile, the K cabins wrapped up their evening with another beloved Makor Mania tradition: a fun-filled movie night.

Our TOB campers enjoyed degel and a barbecue dinner alongside the K cabins before heading off to GA. It has been wonderful to watch our TOB campers dive right into life in the Beber Bubble, making new friends and joining in on activities during GA, from playing sports to simply spending time together. To cap off their day, TOB had an amazing campfire evening program together in the Pioville, where they made s’mores and reminisced over an incredible two days! 

It’s hard to believe that 3-day trips, Makor Mania, and Taste of Beber are coming to an end. We have wrapped up another truly incredible camp day! Stay tuned to see what the coming days bring.
