Welcome back, everyone! The 3-day trips have officially wrapped up, and we're so happy to have all of our campers back at camp on Lake Beulah. It feels like one big happy family again—I missed all of you!
Makor campers finished their "taste of 3-day trips" with a bang. The Makor Mania extravaganza included three rotations over the last couple of days: canoeing, outdoor sports, and fine arts.
For canoeing, campers enjoyed paddling on Lake Beulah and even jumped in the water to grab Twizzlers. The outdoor sports group played Beber Ball on the basketball courts. After lunch and rest hour, they went to the chapel for the Makor Mania closing ceremony, where they received certifications and had a huge dance party.
To celebrate, they headed to the pool for a mid-afternoon pool party. It was the perfect way to cap off an incredible experience.
Right around the time Makor headed to the chapel, the Kesher and Ramot campers on 3-day trips started to arrive back at camp!
Once campers stepped off the bus, they went right to work, efficiently setting up tents on lower camp and unloading all the camping supplies. The teamwork was impressive, and it was clear they had a new appreciation for the effort that goes into organizing these trips.
After campers finished unpacking, Kim and the program team loaded the over 85 tents onto a utility vehicle to be returned to the camping room. It was a huge undertaking, and I’m so proud to see all the work the campers and staff performed to get it done. The health center was also ready to provide any immediate medical assistance as needed.
A member of the program team was there to meet the campers, hear about their trip highlights, and ask about big accomplishments. Camper’s answers were inspiring, with many of them sharing stories about overcoming fears of camping, conquering mountains, and biking long distances. These are the kinds of life lessons we hope our campers take away from our tripping program. Their incredible achievements show just how valuable these experiences are.
After unloading their gear, the campers enjoyed well-deserved showers, picked up their freshly washed laundry, and tidied up their cabins. Before dinner, they had time to play games on the lower camp and catch up with friends. I walked around and saw them excitedly sharing stories about their trips.
Meals:
Breakfast: Pancakes and strawberries
Lunch: Quesadillas
Dinner: Spaghetti and Meatballs
The CIT Bet group spent their final day with their Taste of Beber campers, acting as great role models and making sure everyone had an amazing time. They truly bonded with their campers, and I am so proud of their hard work and endless energy. This afternoon, they left for a surprise trip to the Wisconsin State Fair. This will be their last night together before they depart in the morning. It has been a privilege to watch them grow into leaders. They have worked hard and played hard, and it will be difficult to say goodbye. I hope the lessons they've learned and the memories they've made will stay with them forever.
Meanwhile, CIT Aleph spent the afternoon with their cabins, participating in Makor Mania festivities and helping campers unpack from their 3-day trips. We are incredibly proud of both groups. It was wonderful to see CIT Aleph experience what it’s like to live in a bunk with campers, stepping into their roles as leaders and helping take care of their campers this session.
Tonight's GA was a blast, with campers and staff from all divisions reconnecting. The atmosphere was electric as everyone played Kan Jam and basketball, and relaxed on the Blue swing and in the hammocks—it was fantastic to have everyone back together.
Tonight's evening program was a first for us: an all-camp magic show! It was a blast and the perfect way for everyone to wind down after three jam-packed days of activities across Wisconsin.
Our magician had the entire camp fooled with a variety of incredible tricks, including a live bunny, classic card tricks, and feats with balloons, rings, and ropes. Campers were eager to volunteer, and the crowd cheered as each assistant went up on stage. It was so much fun to watch the campers' faces as the magician pulled another trick out of his hat. It was a great evening for all!
As the music from our magic show fades and the campers head back to their cabins, there's a tangible feeling of joy and belonging that fills the air. With everyone back at camp, we are truly "one big family" again. From the Makor campers celebrating their achievements to the Kesher and Ramot campers excitedly sharing stories of their adventures, and our amazing CITs stepping into their leadership roles, every member of our community contributes to this vibrant, supportive atmosphere. It is moments like these, when we are all together, united in our experiences and our friendships, that truly define our summer. We are more than just a camp; we are a family, and it's a feeling we'll carry with us long after the final campfire.
