Reunited, and it feels so good
Reunited 'cause we understood
There's one perfect fit
And, sugar, this one is it
We both are so excited 'cause we're reunited, hey, hey
Today was one of those days that reminds me why our tripping program has been such an important part of Beber Camp for so many years.
This afternoon, buses rolled back into camp carrying tired campers, dirty backpacks, and countless stories. Every group returned with smiles, inside jokes, and a sense of accomplishment that is hard to put into words. There is something special about stepping away from the comforts of camp for a few days, trying new things, and discovering that you're capable of more than you thought.
I was especially proud of our Kesher campers as they completed their very first three-day trip. For many of them, it was their first time spending multiple nights away from camp, cooking meals together, sleeping outdoors, hiking, paddling, exploring, and relying on one another. They embraced every challenge with courage, resilience, and incredible energy. Watching them come back this afternoon, excited to share stories and already reminiscing about their adventures, was a wonderful reminder that growth often happens outside our comfort zones.
Of course, our older campers also had incredible experiences. Whether they were canoeing, backpacking, climbing, or exploring new places, each trip offered opportunities to build friendships, solve problems together, and create memories that will last long after the summer ends.
One of the things I love most about these trips is that the accomplishment isn't measured by miles traveled or campsites visited. It's measured by the confidence campers gain when they realize, "I did it."
And perhaps that's the greatest souvenir they could bring back to Beber.
One of the highlights for me today was a program our CITs created around a mystery involving...my missing neon clothes. Apparently, someone had stolen them, and it was up to our Makor campers to solve the case.
The CITs transformed the program into a full-blown investigation complete with clues, suspects, and even a mock trial. I found myself laughing as I watched the campers eagerly piece together the evidence and debate who was responsible. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and our CITs did an outstanding job creating an experience that was creative, engaging, and full of energy.
One of the unexpected joys of serving as Camp Director is becoming part of camp's stories. There is always work to do behind the scenes, but moments like this remind me how special it is when campers know you well enough that your neon wardrobe can become the centerpiece of a program. I felt honored to play a small role in their fun.
This afternoon, our Makor campers had a pool party! It was the perfect way to hang out with friends and make the most of the warm summer sun. After splashing in the pool, we closed out Makor Mania with a special ceremony for our Makor campers. Each camper was recognized with a certificate that praised them for “outstanding participation in Makor Mania 1st Session 2026.” Mazel tov to all of our Makor campers on an incredible three days!
Our breakfast today was pancakes, and lunch was delicious quesadillas. Our Kesher and Ramot campers had their own breakfasts and lunches on their trips, and we all came together as a camp to enjoy spaghetti & meatballs for dinner this evening.
We wrapped up the evening as an entire camp with a magician, giving everyone a chance to relax, laugh, and simply enjoy being together. After a busy and memorable few days, it was the perfect way to slow the pace before jumping back into another great day at Beber. We’ve had so much fun with just Makor and TLP at camp, but it feels so right to have everyone back from their trips and snug and cozy in their (air-conditioned!) cabins, right where they belong.
Peace, Love, 3BC,
Michael
