Can’t Stop the Feeling!

I got this feelin' inside my bones
It goes electric, wavy when I turn it on
All through my city, all through my home
We're flyin' up, no ceilin', when we in our zone

And under the lights when everything goes
Nowhere to hide when I'm gettin' you close
When we move, well, you already know
So just imagine, just imagine, just imagine
Nothin' I can see but you when you dance, dance, dance
Feel a good, good creepin' up on you
So just dance, dance, dance, come on

What a fantastic day as we begin to wrap up the session. Campers had a blast today, enjoying their final round of all our activities.

Our hobbies ran smoothly, with campers eagerly heading to their activities. Our biking enthusiasts hit the trails for exciting trail rides, while tennis players honed their backhand skills. The musical campers are adding the finishing touches to their production of "The Wizard of Oz," and I can't wait to see it on Tuesday. I even had a chance to join the Middle Ramot girls for their "Water Aerobics" hobby, where they showed me how to do "Just Dance" routines in the water. It was so much fun!

The waterfront was bustling today, as the warm weather made the water incredibly enticing. The sight of colorful sails on Lake Beulah was truly awesome.

Meals:
Breakfast: Apple Turnovers
Lunch: Mac and Cheese
Dinner: Brisket

After a delicious dinner of brisket sandwiches, campers enjoyed General Activity (GA). It was heartwarming to see so many campers playing games, chatting with friends, or relaxing on the beloved Blue Swing, a fixture at camp since the days of Burr Oaks. My favorite GA activity is Baggo (also known as Cornhole or Bean Bag Toss), which I often play with campers during our Saturday morning GA.

Speaking of camp fixtures, a few others come to mind:

  • The 72 steps: Yes, there really are 72 of them!
  • The Hobby Wheel: This wooden wheel in the lower camp is where campers gather for hobbies.
  • The Giant Green Chair: A recent addition, it overlooks Lake Beulah and has quickly become a favorite photo spot.
  • The expanded hammock area and playground: We expanded the hammock area during one winter due to its popularity. It's a great spot for relaxation, while the playground buzzes with activity around the tables and jungle gym.

Tonight, we were all entertained by the Beber Fine Arts Festival! The festival is our premiere showcase of music, film, dance, and multimedia, and the talent on display in Crown Hall was incredible.

The night kicked off with an amazing performance by our first rock band, who performed "Chicago" by Joe Keery. The lead singer had the entire crowd on their feet, singing along! We then heard two more fantastic rock bands play "Believer" by Imagine Dragons and "Don't Look Back in Anger" by Oasis.

Next, we premiered the movie-making group's film, "The Origin Story of Michael Wax." I was in it, along with some of our other great staff members! The movie was hilarious and ended with a well-deserved standing ovation. It was so much fun to see the kids' creative take on my journey to becoming camp director.

We also watched a recording studio compilation and saw some incredible dances choreographed by our campers. To close the show, three more rock bands performed "Wonderwall," "Fein," and "American Girl."

Everyone did an amazing job, and I was so impressed! The Fine Arts Festival is one of my favorite events because it showcases our campers' incredible creativity and talent.

The Fine Arts Festival will continue on Thursday during Beber Fest, where our art projects will be displayed for all of camp to see. To kick things off, a few more of our rock bands will perform in Crown Hall. How exciting!

Tonight, campers enjoyed a couple of fun Late Night Adventures around camp. The O4 cabin had a scavenger hunt on lower camp, while Senior Kesher had a pool party. The T2 group got creative with salsa lessons, and the A5 group enjoyed an exciting auction night!

I forgot to mention yesterday, but some campers went birding at 7am. They went on the Island and upper camp, around archery and the new challenge course, to go bird watching. The bird report was that they saw a total of 16 birds, with one of them being the Eastern King Bird. They also heard a Sandhill Crane (one of Trudy Sirkis’s favorites!)

As the curtain closes on our incredible Fine Arts Festival, there's a buzz of creative energy and excitement that's impossible to ignore. From rock bands getting the crowd on its feet to hilarious films and amazing dances, the entire night felt like one big celebration. Just like in “Can’t Stop the Feeling!”, there's a powerful "feelin' inside my bones" that's electric and infectious. The happiness and joy in Crown Hall tonight were a perfect reflection of the spirit of Beber Camp, and it's a feeling that will stay with us long after the final bow.

P.S. Congratulations to the following who knew that Pharrell Williams sang "Happy”
