Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Today was one for the books at camp! No matter how our campers spent their day, one theme shined through above all else: accomplishment. From reaching personal goals and trying new things to showcasing their talents and celebrating one another's successes, today was filled with moments that made me incredibly proud.
We kicked off the morning bright and early with a classic Beber tradition: Swim the Lake! Campers took on the exciting challenge of swimming across our beautiful Lake Beulah, showing incredible determination, perseverance, and courage. I am so proud of every camper who participated. Swimming the lake is an amazing accomplishment, and each swimmer should be proud of what they achieved. A huge congratulations to Mia T. and Kyla C. for taking first place!
After an exciting start to the day, our campers enjoyed a full day of hobbies under bright blue skies and beautiful sunshine. The weather couldn't have been better, making it the perfect day to spend outside learning new skills, making memories, and having fun with friends.
Our teen leadership campers also had a wonderful day. Our CITs spent the day interning in hobbies, gaining valuable hands-on experience while helping campers learn, grow, and have fun. Meanwhile, our Pios collaborated through fun team-building activities that strengthened their communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. They also spent part of today packing for a food drive with The Ark Chicago, an organization that provides support and human services to Chicagoland Jews. Finally, to end a meaningful day of making positive impacts on the community around them, our Pios and CITs gathered for a TLPool Party to celebrate a fantastic day at Beber!
Our Senior Ramot campers enjoyed a wonderful afternoon off camp as they headed to Lake Geneva for their highly anticipated senior trip! They spent the day exploring, shopping, and making special memories together before ending their adventure with a stop for dinner at The Elegant Farmer (with a behind-the-scenes “Elegant Farmer Experience!”). From delicious treats to lots of laughs, it was the perfect way to spend time together and celebrate another unforgettable summer at camp. Our seniors had an amazing day and we hope they loved every moment of their trip!
During GA, we temporarily paused our no-screen rule to give campers the chance to catch the first part of the USA vs. Belgium soccer game. Everyone was so excited to cheer on Team USA together, and the 36 campers who joined were watching when the U.S. scored their goal! Although the end result of the game was not what we had hoped for, it was an important lesson in accomplishment as well: even when things don’t go as planned, we are still worthy of celebrating the ways in which we tried hard, had fun, and did our best.
We wrapped up today with one of the highlights of the summer: Fine Arts Fest! Campers proudly showcased everything they've been working on throughout the session, and their creativity and talent were on full display. From moviemaking and dance to rock band, the recording studio, and even our brand-new Beber TikTok hobby, every performance and presentation reflected the hard work, confidence, and passion our campers have developed.
A special thank you goes to Fine Arts Director Belle, Music Director Victoria, and all of our Fine Arts hobby specialists for the countless hours, creativity, and encouragement they've poured into making these experiences so meaningful. Your dedication helped our campers shine, and I couldn't be more grateful.
What an incredible day filled with determination, sunshine, creativity, and camp spirit. Our meals today were waffles & açaí bowls, mac ‘n’ cheese, and barbecued brisket. We can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!
Peace, Love, 3BC,
Michael
