The annual Beber Chicago family dinner and new family information night was held last Sunday night. We were not sure if we were going to go, since we’ve been before. But my girls were very excited and looking forward to going to this event. My older daughter was excited because she could see the staff and friends that she has made at Beber and my younger daughter was looking forward to the opportunity to start her experience as a Beber camper. In true Chicago fashion, it had to be the first snowfall of the year, but we were determined to get to the school so Ashley our youngest would get the chance to make some new friends. The Beber staff was very welcoming from the minute we walked in the door. The staff all introduced themselves and the presentation of what to expect as a new camper began. Even though we had heard the information before, we did learn something new and it was great to hear parents ask so many questions.
The kids were then taken out of the room to get to know each other while the parents had an opportunity to get to know each other as well. You could tell new friendships were starting to form.
When it was time to go and eat, some families sat with new friends they had made while others sat with families that they’ve known. It was so nice to see my younger daughter who didn’t know anyone make a new friend and want to eat dinner with her and not us. We could tell a new friendship was forming. Our older daughter loved eating and catching up with her friends at another table. We weren’t even being talked to by our children. The girls were having an amazing time. Watching our children with their friends, had let us know that we had made the best decision for them for the summer. We had such a great time at the event and we are looking forward to the next one in the Spring.
