Alumni Spotlight: Micah Fishman
I was at Beber for 10 summers, from 2005 to 2014 where I was on staff for one summer.
Favorite Hobby: My favorite camp hobby by far was waterskiing. I also loved sailing and fishing. I was always on the lakefront.
Favorite Camp Food: My favorite camp food was always the wacky mac or the lasagna. My favorite trip food was the fish and campers stew, but I was always hungry so I ate everything.
College and Major: I just graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies and a minor in Spanish. This August I will be starting Law School at Chicago-Kent College of Law
Current Living: I am temporarily living at home in Buffalo Grove with the intention to move to Chicago next Fall.
Lessons Learned from Beber: I think the most important lessons I learned from the teen leadership programs included just being my authentic self and how to be willing to try new things. Being my authentic self has surrounded me with an amazing network of friends and professionals that inspire me daily to be my best and push myself further. Saying yes to new experiences brought me volunteer and travel opportunities as well as professional opportunities. I wouldn’t trade my time as a PIO or CIT for anything.
Thank you for sharing, Micah!
