LUGGAGE
Campers should bring no more than two pieces of luggage with them.  Campers should also have some sort of daypack or bag pack to use for overnighters and day trips, as well as a sleeping bag, linens and towels.  Please make sure all luggage (and clothing) is clearly labeled with your camper’s full name on it.  We will be storing luggage in a separate facility so it is critical that it is clearly labeled.  Please do not use trunks as they take up a lot of space and are often heavy and difficult to move.

MAIL/STATIONARY
We have found that campers are much more inclined to write home when the process is made easy for them.  Please be aware that we do have a letter meal every week so at a minimum, you should hear from your child once a week.  If you would like to increase your odds of hearing from you camper more than three times, here are some helpful tips:

  1. Pack your camper with pre-stamped, pre-addressed envelopes to all the people you want your camper to write to.
  2. Sit down with your child and ask them who they would like to keep in touch with while they are at camp and make your child a sheet of labels with everyone’s names and addresses so that they can assemble their envelope easily.
  3. Encourage your child to pick out the stationary and pens that they want to bring with them.
  4. Your child will receive four email cover sheets. They will receive all 4 cover sheets at the beginning of the session and can use them at their discretion.  Please remember that if you want your child to fax or email, their letters should be written clearly with pen so our office staff can make sure they get to you in a way that you can read!

Please be aware that campers often don’t want to write home because they are busy playing and running around.  No news is often great news!  However, if you are concerned that you have not received any mail from your child, please contact us and we will make sure a fax or letter is sent right away.  Mail from Mukwonago can be notoriously slow, so please keep that in mind.

ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Please make sure you have signed and are aware of our technology policy.  Only screen-less electronic devices and digital cameras are permitted at camp this summer.  Please consider packing additional books, magazines, games and other non-technology items for your camper to enjoy during rest hour and early morning or bedtime.

NEXT STEPS…..
By now, you should have filled out the “Letter to My Counselor” form that is available through CampMinder.  If you have not already done so, please sit down with your camper and help them complete the form.  We would like to hear from your child directly and learn more about them before they arrive to camp.  These completed letters will be given to your child’s counselor to help them prepare for your child’s arrival.  Please have your child fill out the form and you can mail or fax it back to camp office (please use the summer address or fax number).  You can also scan and email the completed letter to info@bebercamp.com.

As you begin packing your child up for camp, please remember that while this is a very exciting time, it can also stir up some anxiety and nervousness in both children and parents.  Remember to keep things positive and light.  Try to not let your nerves transfer onto your child.  Remind them that it is ok to be nervous and that camp is going to be a great place for them to make new friends, try new activities and have a great experience!  Remind them of how proud you are of them for taking on this exciting adventure.   Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at the office (847-677-7130) if you have any questions.  We look forward to seeing you all this summer and thank you for being a part of the Beber family!

Happy packing,

Becky
